Practical information
How to reach the workshop location:
- Directly from Geneva
A bus service will be provided from CERN to/from the location of the workshop. The (return) fee is 50€.
The workshop bus "Cavourese" leaves in front of the CERN reception bldg 33 at 08:30.
Meeting point at 08:15.
The Torino-Geneva bus will depart from Torino on friday (13 march) at the end of the meeting in the late afternoon.
- From Porta Nuova Railway Station
The Physics Department of the University of Torino is about 1.6 Km from Porta Nuova railway station. It can be reached by foot following Via Nizza for about 1.2 Km and then turning left and continuing to the end of Via Valperga Caluso.
Public transport possibilities are
- Tram 1 until the "Valperga-Caluso" stop, then 400 m by foot or with trams 9 or 16
- tram 9 until the "Giuria" stop
- bus 34 until the "Valperga-Caluso" stop
- bus 35 until the "Valperga-Caluso" stop, then by foot for 400 m or with trams 9 or 16
- bus 67 until the "Valperga-Caluso" stop, then by foot for 100 m
- By car
The Department of Physics is located outside the Zona a Traffico Limitato (Limited Access Zone) of Torino and can therefore be reached by car, without limitations. The nearest parking is at “Torino Esposizioni” which is 200m from the workshop location.

How to reach Torino:
- By Aeroplane:
The International Airport of Torino is situated in Caselle, which is about 30 km from Torino.
The city centre and can be reached from the airport by train and by bus, which stop at the train station Torino Dora – from which the city centre can be reached by bus – and in front of the central train station Porta Nuova, respectively.
The price of a bus ticket is 5 € and travel time is about 40 min. The city centre can also be reached by taxi, the fair is about 35 € and travel time is about 20 min.
The main low-cost airlines traveling to and from Torino are: Air One, Air Vallee, Blu-Express, Meridiana, Myair, Ryanair, Windjet.
- By train:
Torino has three main railway stations: Porta Nuova (the main central station), Porta Susa and Lingotto.
The first two are centrally located, while the third is in the south part of the city.
Train timetables and prices can be found on the Trenitalia or SBB websites.
